Window tint removal - how to

Well, I have just finished removing the window tint from door windows. I thought ill post up how I did this in case anyone needs to do same in future.

I read from a forum (googled it) that using a steam gun will 'melt' the glue temporarily allowing you to slowly pull off the tint in one hit. So me being a tight a..., I thought ill use the home iron

Well, worked a treat. Just fill up the iron with water, set it to steam and place iron about 20mm away from window. Give it a few seconds and you can start peeling the tint off, moving the iron to the areas when taking the tint off. Take your time, apply steady pressure, no jerking as this will tear the tint and leave glue on window.

Took about 10min for each window, and only a smidgen of glue was left in places, which, when steam applied, using a knife blade to remove.

    Cheers,
    Carlos

I recently removed some of the factory fitted stuff from a 96 Falcon wagon I recently acquired, it was pitted, torn and cracked.

I have a heat gun and it worked a treat, but the glue stayed put in some places, so some metho cleaned the glass quite nicely.
