Happy New year peoples.
Back home after a couple of weeks holidays
Deb,Lindsay and myself spent a week at Cape Riche(Wellstead) camping with Graz.
Couldnt have asked for nicer weather.Calm, only a couple of light showers at nite, not overly hot.Had a bunch of ferals camp next door wich was a bit of an annoyance, but werent as noticable from Grazs camp across the track.Got out in Grahams tinnie most mornings, unfortunately the Pros had netted the area 3 weeks earlier cleaning out the King George whiting, herring and skippy, and who knows what else.We did manage to get a few nice breaksea cod,a nannygai and some nice skippy and the odd herring,BUT there was a lot of water between them and lots of slimy rock cods and wrasse, why cant the pros eleminate these?????
We then went across to Esperance to stay with CraigE and family. It blew a gale all week so not the best fishing.Managed to catch a couple of Stingrays and a big blue swimmer crab in the fishing boat harbour.
BlackBetty behaved, but is a little underpowered and thirsty towing the trailer fully loaded into a howling headwind.I need a chup bro!!!! She developed an engine oil leak between Wellstead and Esperance, cant see where its coming from,is wet at the top of the engine(tightened rocker cover bolts),filter is clean.Possibly rear main seal???
Was very impressed with my 80L Engel and battery system.2 weeks and no need to use 240V power, the fridge switched to full cold most of the time.Ive got a 1000cca CAT battery as the main,an optima deep cycle in the rear and 2 truck batteries on the trailer.I have a pair of 37W solar panels that produce 5.5A of power, got a Plasmatronics PL20 controler temporary wired to the panels till the camper is completed.I have Drivesafes SC80 triple battery kit to manage charging and his new low voltage protection to prevent over discharge of the aux batteries.Didnt use the truck batteries whilst camped at Cape Riche
Unfortunately no pics from the trip, the camera was"missing" thought to be left at home,it turned up on the last day hidden under the teenagers pile of stuff in the back seat
Thanks Graz for the company and fishing at Cape Riche, thanks Craig,Mel Caitlan and Brock for everything, didnt want to go home!!!!

Glad you had a heap of fun mate and welcome back. My camping trip was one to remember
.......Back from Camping
just got back from waychinnicup last night myself, south coast is a fairly relaxing place this time of year we managed skippy and the odd KG from a kayak in the mouth of the inlet, also took the wife's brand new second hand 99 td5 disco for a shake out on the track between cheyne beach and waychinnicup, the bloke in the navarra in front of us was a sneeze away from an ugly endo with left rear wheel 5 feet clear of terra firma on one section of drop away, disco didn't miss a beat but I suspect it will take a while to get used to the chatter of the traction control, must get that cdl re-engaged if anyone knows where I can get my mitts on the cable and lever jigger
I started back at the coal face on Monday (5th) as well.
Thanks for the camp and company Andrew. We sure picked the weather this time.
Had a busy time in the last week of the holidays as a lot of arson around so a lot of fire calls. Got drenched by a Helitac as I was getting out of the cab on arrival to one fire in the tanker. The dash also got a wash as well and the drivers door almost blown off, still better than being burnt.
Had a nasty surprise when I arrived home Andrew as the house fridge had died so I didn't have any room fro the extra fish you could have caught.
As the result of that my wheely bin is detectable from about one kilometre.
So onto yet another ****ty year in paradise
