    PVC tube onto roof rack?

I am making up some 100mm PVC tubing for carrying the fishing rods, etc when we go camping. I see heaps of people driving around with similar set-ups & want to know the best way of attatching it to the racks. As they are brand new rhino (slim alloy) racks I do not want to go drilling into them. Any ideas? Thanks

Conduit clamps seem to be the answer-

EDIT: - hmmmm, may not work with "slim alloy". I've got the square heavy duty ones. Which type exactly have you got? I can see ones I'd consider to be "slim alloy" but not actually called that on their website.

much cheaper to use the big cable ties (10 X 450 or 600), and cut off the excess, do each one the same and they look quite neat at a fraction of the price of rhino clamps

metal downpipe clamps cost about $4 for 3, by the looks of thos rhino clamp ones, you could get the downpipe clamps, drill out the rhino racks, mount them up, then buy a new set of rhino racks to cover up the holes drilled and still probably be in front, heh

Big cable ties or double sided Velcro wound around one full turn X 3 or 4 of them.

4x 100mm anchor bolts, a bike tube and some ally.

cut ally plates slightly wider than the bars and then drill them to take the u bolts

place some bike tubing over the bars then clamps the pipe down onto the bar using the u bolts and the ally plates you just made,

Should cost you less than $20 and is a lot more robust than zip ties.

Just drill and bolt some downpipe clamps to them, Ally doesnt rust and you will have the clamp over the hole to stop any water or anything getting in anyway and as long as you dont go overboard on the size bolts you use, it wont make a difference to the structure of the rack.

The clamps are about $1.50 each and the bolts will set you back probably about $5 with nylocs and washers.

If you want to be fancy then grab some blanking gromets to cover the holes if you took the pipe off again.

Put the rods in cloth rod bags
    before putting in the tubes!
I arrived at my destination to find that the rough roads gave my shiney rods a matt sandbalsted effect from bouncing around and hitting each other in the PVC pipe.

Also put some decent foam in each end so that if the rods slide (under braking) they don't smash into the ends. I had the tip break off of a very exy rod..didn't know till I went to use it .

I use two worm clamps for each rhino aero bar, one around the bar which then passes through the one that goes around the PVC tube, that way to remove all you have to do is undo the one around the bar four or five turns and slide it off.
I wrap my rods in a double bed sheet swag style so there is always a turn or two between each rod or rod segment. have driven around Australia with this setup no broken guides and rods came back looking like new.
