    Defender roof lining....fix or mask

After 13 years ownership I am at the stage of looking at replacing my Defender roof lining for the second time. After a botched job from a trimmer in 2001 when I decided to have it fixed, I was able to find a good second hand lining from a vehicle that had a camper roof fitted. After fitting this new lining it has also started to sag after about the same number of years. This time I thought I may be able to fit some type of shallow mesh storage system to the rear roof interior and mask my problem. As I would like to keep the roof lining original, are there any ideas?

    Check this thread out

    I did mine last year.

To prevent the sag I just bought more of the little plastic things and put them in the roof support, think they were $0.75 each

Thanks for the thread Hendo. I have the hat rack thingie (2) in fact. The fiber glass sounds a good idea as I still have the original backing from my first refit.

I gave up on the plastic clips and used nutserts into the roof strengthening rib

Is the whole roof lining sagging or is just the material coming away from the backing as happens with most>
If the material is just coming away it may be possible to peel it back and re glue it. Obviously the whole lining would have to come out to do it. But I certainly can not see why it can not be done.
