    10 Fires in Royal NP

We had to rush home this afternoon as some ******** started 10 fires on the south side of Royal NP, the fire at the time was heading straight for Helensburgh, while doing this we got a call from our daughter that she had a severe migrain and couldn't drive home, so off to Rouse Hill to pick her up then home.

Luckly the boys had the fire under control and changed direction towards the coast and also in typical Helensburgh style it was pouring with rain when i got home.

    So how was your day

Thanks to all the firefighters out there in our area, Sutherland/Illawarra

The good news, they caught the ********

    Baz.
    Cheers Baz.

    Not so little:

A man will appear in court today charged with arson offences following bushfires in the Royal National Park in Sydney’s south.

About 3pm yesterday emergency services were called to McKell Avenue, Waterfall, in the Royal National Park, in relation to a number of small fires in the area.

Fire brigade officers worked to extinguish the blaze, which spread quickly however moved in a north-easterly direction away from homes and the railway line.

Police and fire investigators determined that the fire had been intentionally lit and about 5pm a
43-year-old Woolloomooloo man was arrested after being located near where the fires were believed to have originated.

The man was searched and taken to Sutherland Police Station for questioning, where he was later charged with intentionally cause fire and be reckless as to its spread, and possession of an offensive implement.

He has been refused bail and will appear in Sutherland Local Court today.

Police investigations are continuing into the blaze and the possible involvement of a 34-year-old man who was also arrested at the scene. The younger man is currently undergoing a medical assessment and is expected to be interviewed by police later today.

Whilst the fire has been brought under control and does not pose threat to any homes, it has not yet been extinguish and Rural Fire Services will continue to battle the blaze today. Road blocks will be in place in the Waterfall area.

Woolloomooloo man, probably lives in Housing Commission premises, I wonder if he'll have his rental terminated like others so recently had?

I thought the 'loo was millionaire territory these days? Dilapidated terraces selling for high six figures as is, & needing the same spent on them. Million dollar apartments on the finger wharf.

What happened to the locals? Living at Mt. Druitt, Liverpool, Campbelltown? I suppose the night life and venues have changed too. No live raffles at The Bells and the rockers, no wharfies, painters and dockers, seamen, commercially friendly ladies in the Frisco, Tilbury, Lord Roberts. Late night gatherings at Mrs. Harry's have probably long gone.

Partly correct the finger warf has been converted to luxury appartments and a marina and the pubs have been yuppified. However many of the dilapidated terraces in the area around Forbes and Cathedral Streets were renovated and returned to Housing Commission stock.

One can only imagine that the firebug alleged to have torched the National Park didn't come from an appartment on the Finger Warf.

UncleHo will be disappointed. Was he not a frequenter of the locale in his salad days?
