I have a total of 7 X Cibie's (130 amp alternator and 2X batts) over and above D1 OEM lights. 2 Cibie's X on the bar and 5 X Cibie's roof mounted on a custom bar coupled matt black bonnet. For long trips at night along QLD sand islands looking out for washouts, creek crossings etc it makes it so much easier and safer to have those extra lumens up top. If it is not cool I don't care.

When done correctly they look great! do you have a roof rack to mount them on or will you use a light bar? How many what light are you using?

Having roof lights has stopped me clobbering a few roos at speed and offroad has been far more useful than not having them....
And yes, I have hit an overhanging branch.. At speed (80km/h offroad) and did some damage... But the lights ALL worked afterwards - I just had to redo the mount...

roof spotties are nice... but the light pod for the rr classic reigns supreme... it seems as though with little effort it would adapt to P38's, defenders and discos.
4 lights ala rally vehicle setup... enough to light up the darkest of nights and turn them into day.

they retail for approx 150 quid in UK... i'm pretty sure it doesen't come with any lights.
they come in black and white but are easily can sprayed to match vehicle colour.

i must admit i've only driven a rally car with these pod lights and nota rangie... and visibility was superb and turned the 'road' into day.
i suspect, now that i think of it, the benefits of having roof spotties will give a broader view... when there is essentially no road to speak of... ie in dunes, where there simply is no road.
my roof spotties hang off the rear of the roof rack pointing out the back of the vehicle for fishing/camping and not driving. might be worthwhile setting them up to be fixed to the front as well.
