Anyone driven Sydney to Adelaide in a day?

I have driven Sydney to Geelong to pick up a Mazda R100 in a day and drove back the next, but Adelaide is a little further.

So can it be done with two drivers? Taking proper breaks, how long point to point (can't believe google maps)?

    Cheers

Yeah, sorta....not overly comfortable... we left at 2am and got in at 10 pm from memory. We had a couple of meals out of the car and then several breaks.

It would be the best part of 24hrs.

We drove Liverpool-Nyngan in 8 hrs (traffic was crap through the blue mtns), then another 10 hrs or so from there to Clare.

yeah thought so. Can't believe Google Maps. Great tool, just doesn't take in to account breaks and regular stops, traffic etc.

    Thanks

Dead easy. Line haul truckers do (or did) it all the time juggling the log book. Go via Bathurst, Dubbo, Nyngan, Wilcannia, Broken Hill,Yunta, Burra, Gawler. Alternatively, Sydney, Narrandera, Hay, Mildura, Renmark, Gawler. Via Broken Hill is longer but in a heavy truck is faster, fewer towns, and you dont go into Victoria and its speed penalties.

yeah with two drivers it is possible to drive syd - adl. if was going to drive it i would go via wagga then along the sturt to balanald. take the malle highway to tailem bend then straight into adeladie. Mayb look at stopping at Yass, Narrandera Balanald,Ouyen,Teilen Bend. It will take you about 20 hours with stops i reckon. HINT: change drivers every 4 hours

Years ago I drove Adelaide - Sydney in one day, then Sydney - Adelaide in one day about a week later (Holden Ute).

No dramas, one driver. It isn't that far.

I have also done Darwin - Adelaide in two days (in a Subaru Brumby).

Adelaide - Brisbane in 24 hours (Holden Ute).

Adelaide - Alice Springs in one day (Range Rover, Discovery II).

Alice Springs to Adelaide in one day (Range Rover).

About 3 months ago a mate and I did Sydney to Horsham in 12 hours (almost exactly, Landcruiser 100 Series).

I have just been looking at Google maps. I think it is the opposite.

It give 5 hours and 38 minutes to drive from Horsham to Adelaide. This trip takes about 4 hours and 15 minutes including a fuel stop! Not speeding either.

It gives 4 hour 8 minutes to drive Horsham to Mildura, a 3 hour drive!

If it's 1,300km give or take I don't see why you couldn't do it with two drivers.

I did 1,100km alone in a day recently which meant about 11hrs driving plus breaks meant it took perhaps 12 or 13hrs (I passed through a few timezones so can't recall exactly how long it took).

6-700km is normally as much as I'd do by myself in a day but this was mostly across the Nullarbor so I wasn't really all that keen to stop until I had to.

When I was at Uni in Sydney (living in Camperdown), I did it regularly for a few years, took about 17 hours via Broken Hill. Parents had a house in Broken Hill, and a flat in Adelaide, would stop off at BH for clothes etc. then straight on to Adelaide - Glenelg. Used to do it solo, didn't worry about stops other than for fuel/food. I really miss those days
