It doesn't really answer your question but the outlet temperature on my Defender AC is 4 degrees on the coldest setting and about 10 with the thermostat half way.

So if you are talking about the temperature of the air coming out of the vent on the unit inside, I would have expected it to be a bit lower.

Sorry I can't be more helpful, but my house isn't air conditioned. On the beautiful South Coast of NSW, I rely on the sea breezes to keep my house comfortable.

I've never measured the temp of my split system but I measured my car once and it was approaching 0c.

Yeah, it is certainly a lot colder on my Disco, around 4.

All A/Cs will have a max difference between the "inlet" & "outlet" temps (as you refer to them). Contact Mitsubishi to find out what they are for your units.

Unfortunately, many units are undersized for their application (due to cost).

Sounds pretty good to me,unit is working way out of its normal operating parameters with 39 degree air on the indoor coil.In fact if it continues to operate in this situation,it will eventually malfunction.,particularly with air on the condenser of around 44 degrees.

Most commercial ac units would be out on HP in this situation pretty quickly

I agree. It's doing a bloody good job to get 16 degrees out with that return temp. A minimum difference should be around 10 for unit in good condition.

What you are saying is that the units are pulling down the temp from 44 to 16.
That is fantastic.
They are designed to pull down approx 18degrees.
Set the indoor thermostat to 26-27 degrees no less, that way the compressor will have time to rest and cool down.

If you set thermostat lower or higher, the air coming out of vent will not change, its a misconception that the lower the setting the cooler the air.
