    Re oil pump bolt's

What is the max KM you would do in a 02 TD5 before checking the oil pump bolt's,I have 70,000km on one so it may be time to check.
    Cheers.

If you are going to check it you may aswell do it sooner rather than later.

Its not that hard to do.

    Good luck

From when I bought a second hand one until I got it somewhere convenient to drop the sump off! IE home, workshop, street outside where I bought it, etc.

Easy job to do to avoid a complete engine replacement.

I started getting nervous once I had the new bolt but waited for time to install it. Up until then there was nothing I could have done if it had failed and knowing my luck, it might fail the day before I was going to change it, but it didn't.

Zero. I would check it straight away, as in this weekend. Do it and do it now

...I'm doing one on Monday, the vehicle is already here, with low oil pressure at idleI'm hoping the bolt is loose and slipping, as it has 35psi at revs, but takes forever to get pressure after startup and has 5 psi at idle, hot or cold
Can't wait to get that sump off

Don't start it again until its looked at - the owner's luck may have run out!

It would be a very lucky owner if the problem is that the bolt is loose, and too close for comfort for me.

Do it as soon as you can just to be safe. With my luck the bold would come out escape the engine go through the gearbox and lodge in the rear diff.

Well Graeme you wouldn't want to know this then; The owner rang me on Tuesday morning to tell me his oil pressure lamp was on 'only when idling', and can he drive it in for me to look at. I told him not to start the vehicle and get a tow truck. He then said, 'Oh its not too bad, I just did 300klm over the weekend with it touring around the state'

I am on one hand hoping it IS the bolt coming loose and the drive slipping, but it could be anything really until I get the sump off on Monday or Tuesday and take a gander.

I'll report back then. I have crossed my fingers and toes that the engine is OK. As I said, I put a gauge on it and it has very low pressure at idle, but the saving grace is it climbs very quickly to around 30 Psi when about 2000rpm. Lets hope it was OK when driving on the highway etc...
