Thread: Morton Island info

Since the Combie Trader was bought out by Micat operators Hawkins Transport, the Micat is the only way on and off Moreton, $400 will probably be right if you take a camper trailer. Don't expect to buy fuel on the Island either as they closed the Bulwer servo bowsers too. However don't let that stop you as it's a great destination to camp. You will have to book your campsite online with QNPS.

As said fantastic place,the prices keep a lot of people away.......which is great

Try not to go on a public holiday,as there will be even less people around

The ferry we go on leaves from the Lytton port of Brisbane area

yeah that was my thought. Better be a fantasic place as thats alot for a 2 -3 day trip . Cheaper to go to Fraser

When I looked at going it was $180 return for a 4wd and another $180 for a trailer.
What annoyed me is that we were going to have 4 people in the car and you only get 2 people for that price. So it was extra again for the other two.

We used to go to Moreton every year as kids on the Combie Trader II but it is far too expensive now.

my brother is coming over from the uk and i thought we would go over for a couple of days. And as me and my brother both love to off road we are going to take both the 90 and the 110 , me in one and him in the other. And the camper trailer on the back of the 110. But that lot is going to cost a fortune

Combie trader no longer "trades" as it was shut down after being bought out by the opposition who operate the Micat which runs from Whyte Island at port of Brisbane to Tangalooma. A monopoly is excellent for business. Remember the barge fare includes all the QNPWS fees which you'll be up for at Fraser anyway. Also Fraser will take more fuel, you do the math. Until about 15 years ago we used to go to Fraser every year but since we had an old 2A 2.25 workshop truck which was great on sand but the drive from Ipswich wasn't so good we gave Moreton a go. Haven't been to Fraser since. It's not a big island though and you can drive right around it in under 2 hours easily.
