Looks like the system I linked earlier is also on the other forum
I used the photos he took of his original system as the basis for mine

This is pretty much what mine looked like

    Hey Andy,
How did you go with this ?? Any info ?

I have an old above ground swimming pool at the place I have moved into and would be perfect for this !

Have you found any sets-ups using an above ground pool ?

I am interested in breeding or growing fish ?? but not sure what types would be OK in the Perth hills ? Trout ? Or would crawlers be the best option ?

    Cheers

I have always been a keen gardener and fisherman.
We went to a Garden show recently and there was a company with the perfect setup.
Hydroponic vegies filtering the water of fish in tanks.
Expensive to buy as a kit,but diy tanks etc would bring the costs down heaps.
Love my vegie garden, but it costs HEAPS in water and I just dont have the time to weed it properly, wasting even more water.
Have plenty of roof to collect the water, vegies in tubs at the right height AND fish and crawlies too.
Sounds great, would love to hear from anybody that is doing the same.

Back when I was in the water game, I looked at a few trial freshwater aquaculture setups and found it quite intriguing considering I have 3 big tanks here at home inside.
As I specialised in controls and automation for water, I had no end of hardware available, knowledge of designing the distribution, filtration and recycling systems.

Only problem, I was short $20k and about 800m2 of somewhere to do it, no idea on marketing it, legal requirements etc etc etc.....

So if anyone needs a technical manager, wants to setup around Dunsborough Busselton area (SWMBO wants to move there) let me know and I will gladly add my abilities!!

    Cheers

I have a hydroponics setup in a 3x3 metre greenhouse etc. It supplies us our tomatoes lettuces etc in all months except the depth of winter.
I am thinking of adding aquaponics to my system so this thread is very interesting.
I use the autopot system invented by Jim Fah. The good thing about this system is that no pumps etc are needed as it all works through gravity and a special valve ( unless you get really big then you can put in a pump ). I run about 40 pots with a 100 litre tank of nutrient and only need to top it up once every couple of weeks ( depending how many active pots and the time of year ).

Here's a link to the website ( just for another option to look at )

Its something that interests me a great deal, being an ag teacher/scientist and all. I wanted to get an aquaculture set up going at school in the ag plot but never had the funding or the space to do it. Something that when i finally get some land one day i wouldnt mind having a go at
