If you fill in your pool
In my haste to finish my renovations in preparation to rent my place out I decided it was cheaper to fill the pool in then get a new liner ($5000), piping and filter set up ($3000) and pool fence ($8000).
Well 58 Tons
later the pool is a sand pit.
16 days to go and just about done.......biggest winner...my neighbour who got a shed full of stuff for nothing
from power tools to lawn mowers.......

that's one lucky neighbour Dwag
so, if you filled your pool with sand and decided later-on that you wish to reinstate the pool for own use ( incase you move back to WA) would it be feasable to remove the sand , or once you've poured sand inside then that would be it for that pool.

that is the ultimate sand filter!!!!
wont the water now just "pool" or collect in the bottom of the pool when it rains and seeps through?...this will obviously cause problems later if you want to reverse it, but on the other side...trees etc will get most use of all water falling there..!
A mate of mine filled his pool in by installing a small "cellar room" that he prefabricated...made use of space and saved on sand/soil for filling... it is reasonably large and has premade shelves and a nice ramp down... his pool had cracked due to soil drying so he figured it was buggered and basically filled the deep end with his cellar. he now has a nice small lawn over his cellar...and a very nice vegie garden in shallow end.. the way he has done the path across etc and some other small paths etc in garden makes the pool edge "disappear" as there is a lot of other bookleaf slate now about (which is how he had edge of pool done.
no water pooling because of dirty great crack across pool base. filled with sand and then top 3' is "sandy loam" with extra compost etc in garden area
cheers

Hey man,
What about a workshop pit.
All you had to do was build a floor on top and it would be a perfect pit.
A sump pump to remove any rainwater and away you go.
This is my dream.
