LR Defender in Mexico??
This is a bit of a long shot ............. I was wondering if anyone on the forum might have had or used a LR Defender in Mexico.
I want to take my Defender CSW Td5 110 (2005) to Mexico and use it there long-term but am concerned about the likely lack of spare parts. Landrover Mexico don't sell Defenders; I suppose spares could be shipped in if one could bear the red-tape and cost, but ................. .
Any advice or thoughts on this? Experience gleaned from other countries where Defenders are not thick on the ground or not sold might be helpful.

I think they make the 2.8HS motor in Mexico, so you could always upgrade to one of those, rip it off a dead Ford Ranger (local market version).
Otherwise I've heard South American countries are very difficult for postal freight, as a lot of stuff gets stolen. Probably better off finding a US ex-pat who crosses the border regularly, and have stuff flown to the USA and carried over the border.
Are BMW in Mexico able to supply TD5 parts?
Carry a good supply of spares (reco kits for clutch & brake cylinders, brake hoses & pads, water pump, filters, hoses etc...)
Maybe consider a 300Tdi instead.
The Land Rover website used to have links to various national sites, and lastly an INTERNATIONAL link, which from memory was linked to Land Rover Special Vehicles, and they could support you else where. The BMW debacle and then the FORD adjustments saw most of the Special Vehicles stuff changed, then outsourced, but perhaps contacting LRSV direct may be helpful. The last time I checked the outsourced site, they were offering G-Wagens and Toymotors for SV applications
