    Hmmm, no they dont explode as such, bUt just rupture & spill which, when ignited go WHOOOMPH.

    I had a 70l Auto gas tank in the bushes at my place that had gas in it, after the bushfires went through my place a couple of weeks ago, it still looks ok. the gas must have been vented somehow (not by the cfa as they wouldn't have seen it). Now its just sitting in a pile of ash, probably needs a retest and a lick of paint

    Auto lpg tanks have a pressure relief valve. the gas escapes and is burnt but tank should not explode (should not sometimes it doesnt work)

    There is a report of a gas tank exploding in Marysville, yet to be confirmed. There are two BLEVE'S recorded in Australia, both were in Gas Depots, one in Qld, the later one in Botany around 1990- Boral depot.
