Lets face it people, I know youll hate what I say, but manufacturing is dead in OZ until the offshore companies spend what we spend on wages etc etc. until then, we are not competitive.

And face it, most people would rather save a buck and buy overseas compared to spending a bit more if made in Oz.

While locally made items are up to double the cost of an import no-one can afford to support local.

And don't get me started on union involvement...

That's a very good list you have there. I think we (the public) should have a general "Black Ban" on all their products. Teach those bloody high earning fatcats were their profits are actually coming from. When they decide to tak a wage cut and re-instate the little guys then we might consider buying their products again.

As a group we almost crippled France by black banning all their products after muaroa attol. ! small company couldn't be too hard to hurt.

Just occurred to me that here is a forum dedicated to an overseas manufacturer of motor vehicles with people complaining about products being made overseas

A whole lot of my SIII FFR was manufactured in Australia including the engine and body. I have an Australian assembled 1950 Land Rover, an Australian assembled 1951 Land Rover, and Australian built No. 5 trailer for my SIII-FFR Land Rover, a 1969 Land Rover forward control with an Australian built body, a Range Rover classic that was assembled in Australia.

I'm also not buying one of those BMW, Ford or Tata produced Land Rover products!

So there!! It's like me still wearing Bonds or King Gee that were made in Australia, but not ones made in China.

You won't find me on: faceplant; Scipe; Infragam; LumpedIn; ShapCnat or Twitting. I'm just not that interesting.

Profits?? - PacBrands just posted a first half loss of almost $150M.
I'm sure that taking a couple of $M off some execs is going to help there.

Maybe those execs are actually doing their jobs and have a plan to keep the rest of the business viable and most of their staff in a job.

Maybe those Execs don't need to triple their pay packets to do it.

    Chucaro,

capitalism might have it's short commings but I don't think that any one of us is prepared to go and live, work and adopt the systems used in Russia, Cuba or Zimbabwe. A co operative might be an alternative and I have seen them work in Canada for supermarkets and a sports store chain. I will put up with complaining about exec salaries for now.

El comunismo no trabaja muy bien tampoco hombre.
