Would you Aussies put up with this?

On the News in NZ tonight, a local company is to loose a contract to supply clothing to our army in favour of it being sourced in China.

I've thought for a long while now that Kiwis need a bit more pride & toughness, to be a bit more like you guys in fact. So, if Yakka was a Kiwi company & it was an Australian company under threat of being displaced by a contract going to China, would you wear it or shake someones cage?
I did, emails to various ministers for starters.

Thats pretty bad when the country cant even supply a locally made uniform to its armed forces, i'd be petitioning it.

Mate, there is nothing that they can do. they cal for a public tender and they cannot do trade protection thanks to the globalization

For that reason here in Oz we lost all the manufacturing base

We have to wait until the wages in China are equal to the ones in OZ or NZ

mmm Pac Brands have been making their colthes in china for about 2 years. They started their factories there ages ago and a large percentage is made there already . was in a meeting about 4 months ago talking about it .

Also for the record they are closing the plants in the begining of 2010 and not with in the next couple of days , which is what you belive if you watch the news

mmm Yeah along with Telstra and all the banks take the **** really . After all waht do they do to really earn that money
