I've thought for a long while now that Kiwis need a bit more pride & toughness, to be a bit more like you guys in fact. So, if Yakka was a Kiwi company & it was an Australian company under threat of being displaced ....
One can only think that it has something to do with the Free Trade Agreement, Aust and NZ are about to sign with ASEAN in Thialand in the next few hours or days. So the Government (either Government) doesn't care.

It wasn't Yakka but King Gee the other workwear company is just sacking 1800 Aussie workers whilst they seek the bottom line by moving production out of Australia. This just months after the executives voted themselves a $7M payrise and gobbled up $17M in taxpayer provided assistance.

I won't be buying King Gee while anything else is still made in Au (or NZ)!

You won't find me on: faceplant; Scipe; Infragam; LumpedIn; ShapCnat or Twitting. I'm just not that interesting.

Looks like I'll be dusting off the Husqvarna... and now you'll tell me that Pacific Brands also own thwe fabric weaving plants and they are also manufactured off-shore!

Do we actually manufacture anything here anymore?

You won't find me on: faceplant; Scipe; Infragam; LumpedIn; ShapCnat or Twitting. I'm just not that interesting.
