What are you guys complaining about ???

1 there has never been a Famine in a democratic society EVER

2 1916 when the workers paradise broadcast in hope of recognition, they had a population of 190 million, today they have a population of 170 million

3 the great depression was small, until protectionism policies were put in place then it became a disaster. financing a war started it, and the free trade of another war finished it.

I bought a Husqvarna, show me a reliable well made Australian sewing machine and I'll buy it!

mmm they are good machines . But most machines are made in Brazil now same reason that Pac brands moved to China. Even singer, bernina and brother
BTW Elna was a front for a gun making factory in Switerland ( my sis was Europe Sales Manger for Elna). Once went to the factory , also been to the Husqvarna factory. Both know what they were doing

Because there is no Australian owned alternative........... just like it will become with underwear, work cloths, casual cloths et al.

My son owns a company manufacturing cotton material to specialist clothing makers, he cannot produce the material for double the cost of "ready to sell" clothing from China. Chinese material is only quarter of the quality though.

mmm but the problem is everyone says they will buy Aussie made and pay for the better quality . But then they are sat in Target looking at socks and see Aussie made and brand at $12 for 3 and then other brand from gods knows where for $6 for 3 pairs and hey guess which ones they buy

We all want to buy Aussie made but not if it is going to hurt our pocket . But unfortuatly it is going to

Apparently there are still going to be 30,000 workers in oz employed by Pac brands so if they save those jobs and "only" lose 1850 have they done a good job?

By the way execs job is not to save jobs it is to make profits or keep losses to a minimum, if they dont do that thay are braking Aust corporate law and can be held accountable. Unfortunatly workers are not protected by corporate law but profits are.

If we can have a system where all goods have a label stating if they are aussie made or not then it would make a difference. I, like others are willing to pay a bit extra to support our local industries

Dick Smith tried puting labals on his stuff but look how much is still on the shelves, to make a difference it takes most of the population but the price at the check out is deciding factor in most cases
