Coming down yesterday from Moore Park Beach I exchanged waves with a dark grey Def 110 going north. It was the only Def on 400 km![]()
Driving down the cunningham highway yesterday towing one of my series landies and i saw a nice bright red 130 towing a camper trailer, I waved but got to return. I was however driving an 80series Landcruiser as the tow car...
Whenever I tow something I always try to put a sign on the back saying "UHF 40" or similar, you'd be suprised who talks to you![]()

We wave when I drive my Defender But not when I use my Disco
I nearly always wave at series and deefers, only problem is that I am in my work hi**x . Dont get many responses.
I am sort of a Kyogle bloke since i live in the Kyogle shire, though 25 km from the town center. Never found a problem with the Kyogle or casino blokes, but they probably consider me a new-be, as I have only lived here since 1990. Perhaps in another 10 years I will be considered a local. But I must get back to my banjo lessons for now.
Off Topic!
Hi BBC,
Sorry, but I've been absent from aulro for a while.
It's good to hear from you. It looks like you are still in Tarin Kowt, however. How are your plans for Africa proceeding?
Best Wishes,
Peter
Peter, It looks like I am in TK because I have not as yet, worked out how to change my profile. Got back to Melb in Nov 08 took some time holidaying with the family then, in Jan 09 I started getting ready for Ghana, had my Visa done, innoculations, Police check so I could get my residency in Ghana, airtickets in hand ready to fly out 27 Jan 09. The company called me 17 Jan to regretfully inform me that their bank was not approving their line of credit if they continued with the expansion (which was my employment). Disappointing. Took it like a big girl ( a brave one) and am soldiering on...with them owing me 3mths of pay because they broke contract.
Since then, I have been up for any number of job prospects between Afghanistan, Somalia, Mozambique, Bosnia...people asking for you to put your CV up to support their contract bid...none have won yet...something will arise.
Meanwhile, 7 Feb 09 bought the bushfires. I got a call, pulled the uniform back on and in turn, I have been the ADF Liaison Officer at the VICPOL SERCC (organising all sorts of requests), the DSE iECC (letting them know that soldiers should not be their first option to clean their toilets), then up to Kinglake to be the Community Liaison between Kinglake and Murrindindee Municipal Council, then managng ops on the Victim Searches, now back doing the very important capture on the 'Lessons Learnt'....and guess......what?
.....there are a few. Interesting month.
So..not quite unemployed...the Army will have me back in a blink...I am trying to resist that and trying to remain available to other opportunities.
I wave to deefers, moded discos and older LRs and RRs. My other half thinks I'm nuts, but it's fun to see the reactions. I get very few initiated waves, but that's probably coz I'm on the ball!
There's one chick, who drives a 130 out my street (pretty rare since it's a dead end in the long run) and she never waves.
Bad books for her![]()
Hi BBC,
That's rotten luck.
I imagine that organisations will be falling over themselves to get someone with your skills and experience.![]()
