Does the engine number give any info to what year it was manufactured,
just a query as the original ecu was not with the motor when I bought it.

I can check in my little red book on Monday if you like.
Either post up the number here or send it in a PM.

I hate to be the bearer of bad news but a 38D.....engine is not a Td5.
It sounds like an old V8 number.

I think early TD5 engines (Pre 2002) started with 10P....
After that they went to 15P....

Hi all,
As Scott has said 38D is an old suffix from a V8, 3.9ltr Fuel injected.
That engine number is similar to mine & mine is the last of the 98my's.
TD5's had engine number suffixes from 10P, 15P & 16P.
Be careful.

Sounds like someone has stamped this number after it left the factory. It would be a bit hard to confuse a TD5 with a V8.

td5 engine number (not v8)
Scott
What can I say, you are correct it is a v8 number, in my haste I have given you the engine number of my old 3.9 v8.
Looks like my dear old gran was right, she told me that if i didn't do the right thing i would end up having to wear glasses and have a loss of memory.
Apologies to all, the correct number is 10225345A
