The issue with old NCAP ratings is that the parameters change over time. We now pay much more attention to pedestrian and other vehicle occupant safety etc, not just the subject vehicle's own occupants. Back to the subject of my bent number plate... I have spoken with my insurer and they say simply "since you have to pay the excess anyway, get everything that's damaged replaced..." or words to that effect.

I get a new bumper, grille and fascia regardless. Since the grille & fascia are both plastic and scratched, it is simpler to replace them than repair. What I need to know now is the RRP for a genuine LR bumper since SWMBO has just authorised an upgrade. :banana: When I explained to her the multitude of surplus Defender standard bumpers laying around because everyone gets bullbars, she agreed that we couldn't add to the problem. So no replacement bumper for me... it's accessory time.
