Update - we're going to keep what's salvageable (all but rear wheel and ? derailleur) and my supplier has sourced a better quality frame/fork set(top end) which are being sold for 1/2 price of new bike. (900g). So maybe good out of bad.:)

Question?
What kid has a Carbon Fibre bike that he does not care about and leaves it behind the car?
2. From past history i always check behind the car 1st. Time you started i think....
Why do i look behind my car????
Years back when i was young, i was working for a panel beater, a lady used to come in to get little things done on her car as the mechaninc never wanted to fix the window wider ect... (it was an old volvo).
Well cut a long story short. She was carrying her newborn out to the car in a bassinette and the phone rang, she foolishly sat the baby down and raced in to get the phone, it was her mum and she had a fall, she raced back out to the car and forgot about bubbs and reversed back over her new born...... Sadly she lost her child and never had another..... and in a small coastal town, people talked.... ALOT.....
So ever since then i look for cats, dogs, kids and bikes.....
Glad it was only a bike.
Mistakes happen, but he may have learnt an expensive lesson and should were some of the consequences.
Good reason to fit a reversing camera as well.
ope you can get it sorted.
Surely your car insurance would have to cover it as the car was in motion.
Maybe your son could take legal action against your insurance company?
Insurance for the car should cover it. Issue is whats your excess and the impact on your premium.
I know a bloke who reversed his car into his wifes car. His insurance tried to hit him up for lots of excess over it:angel:.
