    Winch wiring

Hooking up my winch this weekend, was wondering if i can just run the earth wire from the winch and just ground it straight to the chassis instead of running it up to the battery.See photo.

You probablely could, however you reduce the chance of voltage drop by going direct to the battery.

I was always told its safer to go straight back to the Battery.....so you have no chance of bad earthing issues

I cheated on my Defenders and wired it to the earth point on the chassis that the battery goes to.
