Hi Mark, it's not hard just time consuming.
Hi, anyone had any experience on installing brake controllers. I am looking at the Prodigy P3 and I am trying to work out whether I need to pay someone to install it or if I can do it myself.
Hi Mark, it's not hard just time consuming.
Mark,
I am guessing but i gather the vehicle is a D1/D2 or maybe a Defender?
If it is, then it is fairly easy.
Only 4 wires.
Black is +ve
White is -ve (Earth)
Blue is variable voltage feed to your trailer plug at pin 5
Red is brake light wire pick.
If its a D3, then its a whole different ballgame..![]()
The aren't difficult to fit. I found the hardest part was trying to find the best spot for the controller. Running the wire to the back of the car is a little fiddly but not hard.

Installing on ein the D3 is easy... we had it done in an hour or 2.

Hope its better than the P3 I fitted to my D2. Thing was a POS and had an electrical fault and wouldn't turn off (sleep). Also it was pulling current the whole time. Changed it for a Redarc unit and I'm very happy with that.
Other than those issues the actual installation is easy as people have described.
Pic's of Redarc installed in D2 are in this post: http://www.aulro.com/afvb/discovery/...tml#post770908
