Did my bit for the economy

And it didn't take long either. In possesion of my $950 from Uncle Kev I went to the Brissie 4X4 Tinnie and Tackle show over the weekend.
Felt like spending millions but ended up getting an ARB portable compressor and a Tow bar for the Defender.
    $940. Poof. Gone.
Both items are made in Australia
Had a play with the compressor. Very impressive. Does my ute tyre from 18 to 45 in 65 seconds.
Have to wait a few weeks for the towbar to arrive.

    Cheers
    Kenley

I thought that even if they do give it out wasn't given out until april.....

I had my doubts it was even going to go ahead considering Rudd said that it is likely that Australia is not going to be able to aviod the recession

I wouldn't be too sure about that. I think you will find that the compressor at least is made in China and possibly the bolt kit for the tow bar if not the whole lot. ARB is getting stuff made overseas now but I believe their bar work is still locally made.

That said, the new ARB compressors sure work better than previous units. Friends got one and I was very impressed. Damned thing is quicker than my Blue Tongue II.

I very specifically asked if they were made in Australia. The bar they claim is wholly made in Melbourne while the compressor is assembled in Melbourne from local and imported parts. Good enough. It at least is employing somebody.
Many locally made beers were drunk that evening. Mostly to console me on the fact that the easily come by money was spent on my Defender and not on the pile of bills I have that the Defender couldn't even drive over.

Isn't April's payout for us taxpayers and this one now is for us with kids?

Indeed there are ... Centrelink payments for the variety of things they are giving money out for are paid from 24/3 to 6/4.

Tax office payments for people who fit the criteria start in April.

You can receive as many payments as you are eligible for
