BTW, something i should have mentioned in my previous posts, when it comes to bogging a land rover on flat sand, we have tried with a disco and fender on 32s to deliberetly bog them, once your tyre pressures are good its nearly impossible unless you on a slight hill going up or on a side slope, we have had to dig holes to drive them into at the right spacing for the wheels to get crossed up and spin, we also did this to a 90 on 32s, but had to dig 4 hole for it to drop straight onto the diffs as the TC wouldnt let us bog it!

but that all changes as soon at the pressures are to high

Well I made it safe and sound but there was some moisture in the sand and it was not a hard job requiring great skill and a tractor. One of us also motored along happily in a fully loaded Subi Outback.

One of our group reckoned not locking the CDL was the way to go and he rolled along in high range 2nd at 18psi (Defender).

We both made it without any trouble so horses for courses and I don't want to open a can of worms and another CDL debate but getting bogged or not getting bogged aside what option would minimise stress on the vehicle drivetrain and engine? The reason i ask is my radiator is in need of attention and it was getting hot plodding up the beach someone suggested leaving the CDL out would have been easier on the temp.

    Thoughts?
I havent rad the whole thread so apologies if this has been posted before.

The CDL would have had no measurable bearing on the temp you were experiencing.

The fact that you were in 3rd low (as opposed to your mates 2nd high) would certainly have generated more heat / stress / load however.

CDL had nothing to do with it.

    Cheers

Thought I would dig up this thread to add a quote:

    LT230 used oil colour?
