Been sick as a dog the last couple of days ... struggled into work today. Boy, that was a mistake.
My boss decided to get this stupid Mac computer, & since then, nothing has gone right with the bloody thing.
So first up ... had to go to some oneonone training for Apple, at frigging 8:00 in the morning. What a waste of time. Then get to work after that, at 9:00am, the boss somehow managed to delete the email accounts yesterday after stuffing around with the computer, not just his, but mine as well, which is networked to his (or visa versa - I have no idea, & care even less). He does this all the time, thinks he knows what he's doing & stuffs everything up. So I've lost every single email, past & present. He spits the dummy well and truly. All this urgent stuff that has to get done ... but of course it's anyone's fault except his.
So he's in a foul mood all day ... then he announces at about 11:00am, "Oh, a client is coming in to pick up his files at 2:30pm today, can you scan it all". Get nicked! The file consists of three chocker block A4 folders, not just straighforward pages you can feed ... a lot of scraps of paper you have to put in manually, which don't automatically feed though. I say "You've got buckleys, especially since the stupid, lousy, cheap printer isn't designed to scan large volumes of work". On top of which, had a great scanning program which stacks all the pages, but oh no, he's decided (after paying for the program) to scrap that one. So ... the pages no longer stack. Oh, did I mention the printer keeps jamming, like EVERY blinking page? Apart from which, it takes HOURS to scan that sort of volume of work, even when you've got a good program & everything's working okay. Another stupid idea of his to scan ALL his files, which has taken months - gee, I wonder why the $600.00 printer has decided it can't cope anymore! I try to explain to him, the printer isn't designed to that sort of volume of work - his reply "why not, that's what it's for". Pointless arguing with him, cause once he gets an idea in his head, there's absolutely no reasoning with him.
Then he's lost a document on the computer ... once again of course it's my fault, even though I haven't been at work for the past 2 days.
Just about to head out the door so I don't miss my train (If I miss it, I have to wait another hour for the connecting train ... which makes my trip nearly 3 hours instead of 2). So now he wants to have a discussion on buying a new printer.
Annoying lawyers, they have NO COMMON SENSE whatsoever.
Sorry - rant over, had to get it off my chest!
hmmmm, just think Panda.... at least its only 99% of all lawyers which give the rest a bad name.
Sounds like one of those days where you start questioning what you're doing! but press on, its just a bad day.![]()

Thanks everyone, feel better already. To be fair, he's a really good, compassionate lawyer and a decent bloke who does a lot to help the more unfortunate. Too much so. He's not one of those greedy arsehole types, and 99% of the time takes on clients who have little money cause he genuinely wants to help them. Hence, he never has much money! But as I said, he has no common sense when it comes to running an office, but thinks he knows better! (Actually, he hasn't much common sense period!)
It's just that he can be an absolute pain to work for at times!
Just one of the days! I'm going to go & play with my goats now ... that should cheer me up!
Thanks again. Sorry for the rant!![]()

Yea, I know, every boss has bad days. Problem with my boss is, everything has to be done last week, and he's extremely pedantic. Guess it's the name of the game, but geez it can be stressful when things seem to go wrong all at the same time. Even more so for him I guess, seeing as he spends most of his life in the office (being his own business), plus he's had to go to all these seminars to make up his CLE points, lunchtime & weekends, so he's whinging he can't get anything done. Client's can be damn demanding too. Bugger that for a game of soldiers!
He had a big case a couple of weeks ago ... the judge was a right arse. He's acting as the city agent for another solicitor who specialises in criminal law, but knows nothing about commercial law, hence my boss as the city agent. Anyway, the other solicitor settled the affidavit for one of the witnesses, to which the judge apparently gave a right serve to her, because it wasn't paginated. He then proceeded to get his little black book, in which he noted her name, announcing to the court, the court sessions had only just started and he'd already got "5" names in his little black book. Pompous old git!
