Romp it inGood choice
Hi,
We are just about to purchase a Disco 3 TDV6 to do a 6 month caravanning trip on east coast. We have two young kids so we were thinking of getting a 24' Jayco Sterling van to tow. What are the chances of the TDV6 pulling a van of this size (about 2100kg TARE). Also would auto transmission cooler be necessary?
As you can tell we are new to the Disco and caravanning, any help would be appreciated.

do it with ease, and do it with good economy at the same time. 2100kg's is a walk in the park for a disco3.
I have towed my grandparents caravan which is 2t with my Tdi Disco 1 and whilst i cant plow along at 110 everywhere it doesnt struggle.

We tow a 2.5t boat with ease behind a D3 V6 Se so the TDV6 should also do it easily.
The beauty of the D3 is that its so bloody heavy that the trailer can't push it around so you get a great ride and always feel in control when towing.
06 SE V6 Discovery 3
Brilliant at towing especially with the air suspension. You won't notice it is there so be careful.

I have had that feeling too. Need to keep remembering it is there. Maybe that is why LR thoughtfully made the trailer light flash when you put the idicators on.
It says: "You're towing somthing you idiot!"
Hi,
Sounds like no problems, thanks!
Anyone know about auto transmission coolers or is this just early model vehicles???
I haven't heard of any issus with the auto tranny overheating.
I'll ask on DISCO3.CO.UK - Dedicated to Discovery 3 and LR3 Owners and Enthusiasts they have a greater number of D3s.
Looks like- NO!........................... problems.

Unless you are in the middle east with the V8 where you can get a cooling kit if you like. As an option.
