07 Defender 2" Lift with Cones!

Well I've been gradualy putting more and more junk on our Defender till the last straw was the winch. It didn't go around corners as well as it used to .

So I went shopping as any full blooded male would do

Front and rear springs Heavy Duty with 2" lift I also took PSimpson up on a pair of his fab rear dislocating cones

I enlisted the help of a friend James (a fellow LR owner). First the front, not too hard but We did have to push and shove

Only to realise just as it poped into place that we had left and right swapped around (well actually it was me)
Then the rears, only issue we had here was a broken retaining plate

The PSimpson cones slid in just perfect (well done mate )

Tighten up a few more bolts and heh presto all done!

A quick drive and a couple of hard bumps we heard one of the rear springs seat itself

    Now the results:
    A
Standard 07 with no accessories (except a tow bar) thanks to Solmanic
    B
My 07 with standard springs: Bull bar, winch, spot lights, Checker plate, Rock sliders, Bash plate, Diff guard, big stereo, Roof console, Aux fuel tank, Tow bar, Spare wheel carrier, Dual batteries........
    C
My 07 with new HD King Springs 2" lift and all the above junk
    A B C
    Front RH 493mm 471mm 521mm
    Front LH 500mm 492mm 521mm
    Rear RH 535mm 510mm 555mm
    Rear LH 535mm 525mm 558mm

So almost 35mm rise from factory not bad

Thanks to Andrew for measuring his car
Thanks to James for helping with the install

And by the way it drives like a dream now

    Cheers,

i would also suggest upgrading the bottom spring retainers on the rear, even with the top dislocating the light weight bar they use on the bottom will eventualy bend and the spring will fall out and thats no fun when your on a nasty little hill

    Looks very nice.
When I installed the King springs on my Disco the size available was 40 mm lift and not 2".
Are you sure that they are 50 mm lift?
    Are they special order?
Can you let me know the part numbers/
    Thank you
