    auto tune or spring base
I have fitted a spring base to mine, mounted don on the bar itself next to the centre left upright, only worry is sometimes I think the arieal will hit the bonnet. I may end up moving it to one of the original ariel mounting points that are welded to the top bar.
    cheers

Looking at what space there is, i cant see it fitting on the flat part of the bar, between the front of the car and the rear of the bar.. thought it was too thick?

Mine is a Codan autotune aerial. As you can see from photos it is mounted on a flat bracket that I welded to the rear of the bar............Bearman

I'd be mounting it on the top of the bar on the passenger side. Hard to tell, but it looks like there is room there.

On 130's I have seen them mounted on drivers side between the cab and cargo space. Out of the line of vision and well protected.
    Could be worth considering.
    Sorry, no photos available.

While out on the front bar is rather good for ground plane purposes, I feel that they are rather unprotected from oncoming objects. So my personal preference is to mount them behind the cab, the middle of the autotune should be about 300 mm from any metal panels and be sure that you ground panels electrically. If on the front add an extra ground cable to the bonnet and mudguards with the cable going down to the chassis if possible. (same with the rear door on a Defender 110 or Disco.)

Ferrites and shielding to remove electrical interference on the engine management and other cables is also a good idea.

You won't find me on: faceplant; Scipe; Infragam; LumpedIn; ShapCnat or Twitting. I'm just not that interesting.

    Like this ?

With a strong enough spring it doesn't move too much but if required I can still bend it back to the windscreen.
