I have a situation - tried getting advice from a cop shop but they were no help. Just need your advice on my rights and what I can do - or if it is just a lost case.

Go to your local Legal Aid Service they will usually advise you about the case and your hopes of success. The other option is your local Courthouse and speak to a chamber magistrate who will give you advice along similar lines. Both services are free, as is an initial consultation with a Lawyer - although a Lawyer has an investment in you briefing him on the case as he (sic) wins financially even if you don't win the case.
