My son is good mates with "Murphy", Regards Dad.
It started out fine went to Bendethra, 3 of us, my D1 300Tdi auto my mates 82 hilux with a worked 253 (stroked to 311 big cam way to much power) and his mates pajero, any way comeing down the hills my mates hilux's clutch started to get a bit warm and slippy but that was ok it cooled down and was back 2 normal.
We set up camp no dramas and we decided to go for a drive, so I followed the lux in my D1 come to a slight hill and he changed back to second just a little to hard, and blew the gear box snapping the uni joint at the same time so, I towed him back to camp and we got on with our night.
Next morning its raining and I have to tow this lux out of Bendthra, I made it up all the steep hills getting out of there and the last little hill my header tank cracked and proceded to dump all my coolant on the ground luckly a nice bloke in one of them Lexus land pooper things towed him the rest of the way.
I topped mine up with water and waited for a bit for the engine to cool down then off I went again, probably made it about 5 ks at a time, people stopped to help me, giving me water.
THEN driving along no warning at all heard a rattel from the back then bang got over taken by my nearside rear wheel, wow wasnt that fun.
Trying to get back on, jack it a little bit put a bigger rock under the diff.
Mind you i was doing this in the mud and rain lucky some nice bloke stopped to help me and we used his hi lift jack and got the wheel back on.
So with it all sorted I head off again made it another 5 ks started to get warm and had to wait for dad (Tank) to bring me water I made it home engine intact with only a bent guard from the wheel, what a lovely week end.

Myles

Doesn't sounds like a fantastic weekend to me.
If its one of those black header tanks, they are prone to cracking.
Make sure you replace it with one of the white-ish ones, meant to be alot better.
How did your wheel come off? Loose nuts?
Yeah its a black one I just plastic welded it that will do for now I'm going to make a stainless steel one or steal one off a falcon, and retro fit it.
As to the wheel, lost all the nuts I could feel the back end was a bit lose but I thought it was just the wet road, then rattle rattle bang. I'm going to carry one of them ****ty little scissor jacks now, its the only thing that will fit under the diff with a wheel missing.
Regards
Myles
