I've had a couple of kidney stones too.............I LOOOOOOOVE Morphine

Try a really hot shower on your back too. It helps ease the pain a little.

    I can sympathise too, mate.

I've had them a couple of times too. And from most women you speak to that have had them, they say it's worse than childbirth.

First time I had them, it reminded me of the movie Alien, except it was bursting from my lower back. Wife just stood there and said I'd be late for work, hurry up! (as I lay face down in a ball on the bed, sweating profusely, unable to speak from the pain)

By the time I managed to get to the Doc's, it was mostly over. Scans revealed a 7mm stone, that just managed to make it's way down.

For a little releif, I found that URAL really helped me. I'ts not a painkiller, but it neutralises the urine, and takes out the burn/sting. Grab some from the Chemist.

Pain of any degree is no good. I am the greatest sook when it comes to pain - toothache has been my worst so far. Took heaps of Panadols or the best pain killers of the time but did not go me any good. Worse part was the pain struck in the middle of the night when the dentist was shut.

Been told that Cranberry juice is great for cleansing kidneys, bladder, anything to do with UTI. The best one in the market are the ones by Ocean Spray. Coles and Woolies have it.

Either way I hope that easy passing moment is less painful and you get back on your feet asap.

At least with Child birth the Contractions are timed apart.... Get a real bad dose of Kidney stones and they can be constant.
With Child Birth the birth canal widens to allow the baby to travel through.
My Ureathra and kidney stay the same , so how can trying to pass some thing thru the eye of a needle not be painful.... We try to make a square plug fit a round hole....... amazingly it can be done.... just use a bigger hammer

Also during delivery with an obstructed labour contractions are often less than a minute from start to start.

You can not legally lithotrypt a fetus, to make it smaller!

So in reality the comparisons are meaningless but:
It's Not Worth Complaining is it?

My last op for kidney stones ended up with the doc saying that I would have to take a tablet every day for the rest of my life and then the bugger sent me home with only 20 tablets.
Had me pretty worried for a while but that was about four years ago now.

    Mrs ho har

    Thanks for the concern.
As for getting off topic, it's been interesting reading everybody's experiences.
Having my moments, the pain in the back and lower down is irregular.
Having said that, I'm just about drowning I'm drinking that much water to flush the system. My Mother in Law has had them as well and compares them close to childbirth, so I'm getting sympathy from her anyway.
From memory it's the 4th or 5th time I've had them, so I know what I'm in for.
Water and Painkillers are all I need.
