    Didn't know about fuse wire in old car fuses, but I did use cigarette packet tinfoil. Also had a .22 bolt action rifle and my best mate had a slug gun, went down the bush shooting tin cans off a tree branch.

    "Spent" being the key word here.

    The intermittent short that blew the fuse didn't go away when the circuit was reactivated.

    Much excitement ensued when things got hot.
