Thanks everyone, great advice from all!
I have reno'd before but never a bathroom/toilet - so this will complete the learning curve.
1. I have never waterproofed so will get a pro to do this.
2. Done a fair bit of tiling but hate it. As it can be quite expensive to get tiling done, I'll prob practice first in the foyer! For the cost I am thinking of tiling the two walls (shower is in corner) adjacent and gyprock the rest (waterproof gyprock).
I have heard good and bad things about aquapanel, funny thing is, laminex actually suggest you only waterproof around 500 mm up with membrane and then fix the panel direct to studs!
It is a timber floor (upstairs) with about 5/8" concrete laid with cheesy 70's mosaic tiles. Actually thinking of leaving that floor in, just laying a slurry over the top to take to 40mm with correct fall.
The underfloor is easy to access (from downstairs) making waste and plumbing repositioning easy.
Now to research the erection of villaboard.
Cheers
Ralph
This thread has been great - since we will be doing a bathroom reno soon. I am sure the current bathroom has no waterproofing...
