Exclamation 33" Tyres ....Too Big ???

    Hi all,

Went to Bob Jane T-Mart today for a wheel allignments and a balance. While i was there i asked about wether 33" tyres (Cooper ST's) were practical for my 200tdi defender 110. I was told that they would we too big and i would lose a lot of power. I have been told this by several people now.

Has anyone got 33's and what have you found with them performance wise?

    Thanks
    Jordan

well considering a standard tyre for a fender is 750x16 which measures about 32.2" think safe to tell them they better actually go read the manual

i have run 33's on a 300tdi defender and i found them to be a better overall package on a std defender than the 7.50x16's it hasd on it as std.

speedo suddenly becomes accurate, smoother ride, and more height under the salisbury anchor...

i run 33's on my current county as well.

    Actually 7.50R16's are 31.6"

We're running 255/85R16 M/T's (33") on our 300Tdi Deefer. We're getting a much smoother ride, better grip, speedo closer to actual speed, no discernible difference in power, and most importantly 3/4" extra clearance under that salisbury

As above.I would put 33's with the traxide headlight kit,a worthwhile improvement on a defender. Pat

My disco 300tdi auto, tuned up (61kw at wheels hehe ), had no probs going from standard 29" tyres to 33" muddies. I thought it would die in the arse, but it handles it fine, even on standard diff gearing. Cruises well at normal speeds etc.
