im looking to do a roof rack on a disco, i want to mount forward spots and a rearward work light, and to mount hilift shovel and sawag and other lightweight camping gear, what is my best option and is it hard to make mounts as rhino racks seem very dear for what they are
the rack above has cost me all of $20 at this stage and just added the "hubbatrax" on the other side and painted it today for $9
the best way is to learn to wield and fine a really good recycle centre....
cheers
looking to put a roof rack on my d1 i want it to mount 4 forward facing lights and one rearward camp light, it will hold a highlift and camping gear like a swag and lightweight bulky stuff, what is my best option a half rack, top or bottom, full flat rack or full rack following roof line im thinking a half rack but not sure where to mount it if i put it at the top how do the spots go are they still good being that far back, is it hard to make gutter mount brackets
what is the minimal clearance needed beetween the gutter and roof at the rear on a d1
Frontrunner D3 Half rack.....

Tote - Where's the tunnel?
On the old coach road between Grafton and Glen Innes. A most excellent drive. Do a google search on convict tunnel and there's a fair bit of info on it.
Here's one I prepared earlier... Old Grafton - Glen Innes Road NSW - photos of New South Wales on Worldisround
It's not actually a convict tunnel, and it's located 8ks from Dalmorton.

Here's mine, probably the only thing so far I have managed to complete on the Disco. The rack was one I made that was originally on my rodeo. After taking it to QLD and back and having it sit around it finally made it up top of the disco. It mounts onto the aero bar with 4 off 10mm high tensile cup head bolts..the square shank fits perfectly in the aero bar.

The legs for the aero bars are the 230mm(?) ones with a bit of material removed so they clear the roof line. The 280mm ones look a bit high in my opinion.
Poly tubes are for the tarp poles and campfire tripod and whatever else will fit.
ARB awning is a bonus when out on the beach, and shovel is mounted on Rhino holders.

Been great to finally get some room in the cab with the swag, tarp, camp chairs and chainsaw on the roof. Surprisingly its not so noisy when its loaded.....just a looong way up off the ground!
