If it has an ove3rdrive, it will have a fourth extra lever (main, red hi/lo, yellow hi4) sticking out of the transmission hump about four inches forward of the seat box, on the RH side. It is quite possible that it has been removed, as they were not the most durable gadget made. In this case there should be a hole there, possibly with a cover, although replacing the panel would not have been hard.

Excuse my ignorance, but I am new to these vehicles. I have few issues to fix, but hope to get them done and register it soon.

Better put up some photos of it John.
Be nice to see a one owner Game.
Hopefully it has been well loved in it's life.

    Cheers, Mick.

    Wheel Carrier

Does anyone have the measurements and/or pictures of a wheel carrier for a Game? I've acquired one with the following:

    Standard roof
    Standard bonnet (non deluxe version)
    Wheel carrier (missing)
    Original bull bar
4 original 10 spoke Sunraysias (5th missing with wheel carrier)
Built in June 1977 (don't know what the serials are sorry)

It has the original mounting points for the wheel carrier but that is no where to be found. I'm wanting to fabricate my own, (an original one would be the best), but like anything with a Game, finding the one off parts fitted to most of them are as rare as hens teeth.

If anyone has pictures or can produce a diagram with measurements that would be great.

    Cheers

I was selling Nissan/Datsun when the game was released. It was a pretty good thing but as usual.....SO rediculously EXPENSIVE by comparison.

Our yard was a short walk down from Pt Darwin Motors, which in turn was a short walk from Bridge Autos, Darwin's toyota dealer.

So those shopping 4wd ran the gauntlet down the Stuart Hwy and ended up in our yard. The "new" patrol with 4sp box was released and many shoppers would have their prices and cattledogs in their hands. The prices for Land Rover were outlandish , the toyota not far behind and the Patrol was thousands below both. Many Patrols were sold on that basis...in fact every Patrol we could get our hands on. If all were too expensive we could sell them a Suziki LJ50.

I liked the Game , but it was too dam expensive , the guys selling them hated Land Rover's pricing .

A friend of mine, keen LR enthusiast wanted a game at the time but couldnt justify it and bought a 111A wagon instead.

You're not alone.. I'd conjured up the thoughts that it was a thread where someone posts a pic of a little known Land Rover part.. The first to guess what the part is gets to post the next pic of a part!! Interesting thread tho!
