Game was australia only, no power steering, and only the one colour, bright yellow.
It was done by land rover asutralia, not the dealers.
With the Landrover game ,was it only for the Australian market ? Did they all have power steering, what colours did they come in.Any pictures of a standard one . Were they just an optioned up dealer thingy or were they factory.
Thanks for any info...............

The green series 3 SWB that sold on e-bay yesterday for almost $5000 was a GAME in disguise.
It had most of the features (minus the colours plus power steering which he believed was factory) as well as the GAME wording on the compliance plate. The owner didn't realise what he had BUT the car had a galvanized chassis, doors frames, bulkhead etc
I could believe the price that it went for!
The owner was lucky, especially since he relisted the GAME after the previous e-bay buyer didn't pay up.... at $2950...

It is particularly interesting as it marks the fact that people were beginning to buy four wheel drives as recreational vehicles rather than as work vehicles.
Certainly, the Rangerover five years earlier was a start of this, but very few could afford them and even fewer were prepared to wait out the delivery time for one, so recreational four wheel drives took a while to get started. (And the Game was a reaction to what other manufacturers were offering, not a leader)

Really the leader at the time was Nissan with the MQ patrol. It was an absolute revelation.
Car style interior, heater, radio, standard diesel engine, fibreglass top, dual rate springs in an attempt to improve ride.
It was this vehicle that started to make basic 4wds at lot more civilised and the rest followed.
For sure the Range Rover was around and was reasonably civilised but was not a main stream vehicle. Game and similar 4wds were about $6-$8K where the Range Rover at the time was about $13K.
However the start of the revolution was the Nissan. Landrover never really got with the plan until the Discovery came along and Toyota with the 60 series. The county always more work based as did the most of the toyota models.

Gooday Robert,
Just bought a one owner Game. Noticed on a website that they came with wide wheels and overdrive? Mine has the wide rims, but if it has 0/d I am not sure how to work it. Excuse my ignorance, but I am new to these vehicles. I have few issues to fix, but hope to get them done and register it soon.
