You sound relieved, will you have your place back to normal by next weekend or have they done a major 'job' on it.
If you don't like trucks, stop buying stuff.

How about inviting the double A's next time? We feel snubbed.
I think it was a serious series thing Alice.

Good evening ladies & gentlemen. I can see you've been very busy of late

A short update on the lovely piece of engineering wonderment that they call the Land Rover Series III.

After spending nearly the entire weekend, admittedly, a large portion of which was spent sitting on the bullbar, on in the engine bay, or on the engine spending an eternity trying to line up a bolt or some such thing, or simply musing in total bewilderment as to the brilliant logic of engineers (yes, I am being sarcastic), and another rather large portion of time rectifying my mistakes (don't even go there, yes there were many & some of them I know I will laugh about once I forget how much more time it cost me), and yet another seemingly large portion of time swearing at the delightful machine, and the even more delightful engineers who surely must have been on another planet when designing the said engineering piece of genius ...

I now have the, no, correction, a water pump on the Series III. Not the water pump I had reconditioned or whatever you call it ... owing to the fact that the spindle bearing location bolt couldn't be located, as they didn't line it up properly when they reconditioned it, & also owing to the fact that the outlet pipe was missing, so I had nowhere to position the O ring. Yes, highly entertaining.

So ... eventually I opted to put on a somewhat rusty water pump, riddled with spider webs and God only knows what else, (which I could have actually done in the first place, had I suspected the water pump I paid to have reconditioned wasn't quite up to scratch) ... in the hope it hasn't been a total and utter waste of time ... however, as was pointed out to me, if it's no good, it's no big deal, just have to take it off & put on another one & I will be so much better at it by then ... that's about as logical as engineers designing engines to be user friendly for mechanics ...

So far so good, though as I still have to put back the air filter, which seeing as I had to remove it anyway, decided to give it a clean & change the oil. By the end of the day however, in rather a lot of pain (no, don't go there either), I left it in disgust soaking in kero ...

So ... no, still haven't decided what glorious colour I'm going to paint the grille, if indeed I decide to keep it & not swap it for a motor bike ... or what skulls I'm going to put back on ...

    Will keep you all posted
