Later versions are still in full production now used by hill walkers,Mrs Grockle wore one on wet days whilst doing the Pennine Way, with full venting, the design now bang up to date avaliable in various colours and made for Berghaus for there 'paclight' range.

Good evening Panda, on the subject of goats, I came across one driving a Jeep on the way up here. I was the most fun I've had in ages. After twelve hours of driving and thirty-three sans sleep, my soh was waning and my patience was still back somewhere around Mackay. After passing through Ingham, the road gets rather winding, but is still good for 100kph. Billy Jeep was driving like a granny-goat at 70 and slowing for some of the bends. Knowing the road, I decided to follow him until the range, there are two passing lanes on the climb; a long one at the base and a short one just before cresting. As we hit the first 3 lane I pulled out to pass, he gunned it, preventing me from overtaking. I backed off for a bit, then got the Disco moving, timed to perfection to encounter Billy on the second 3 lane, at twice his speed. Realizing he couldn't out drag me this time ha swerved into the right lane and braked, I swung into the left lane and passed him at 90 kays. The best is still to come, he had his nose out of joint, and decided to chase me. Not a smart move, I know the road well and my stop lights don't work. The decent is short, but steep and windy, and he had no indication of my braking points. After nearly running off the road on the second bend he conceded. He was out driven and outsmarted and his car outperformed.

    Follies indeed.

Well had a very tiring & hectic day playing "who on earth would want to be a mechanic" in the shed, in a poor attempt to remove the front diff. This was under extreme supervision I might add, though I fear no supervision is sufficient for my lack of expertise. Thinking about it, after my attempts at pistol shooting at the range this morning ... oh never mind.

Anyway, Ziggy & Zelda appear to have been watching Play School or some other such educational programme, as they seem to have gained a substantial degree of intelligence. I was so knackered keeping them in check most of the afternoon, walking at least a hundred miles backwards & forwards, (okay slight hyperbole, but you get the picture), everytime Ziggy opened the gate to dash up the yard with Zelda to wreck havoc in the shed. As an aside, Ziggy is hysterical when he runs. Waddles like a duck.

As you can see from the picture, we normally have a child proof gate affair to stop the lovely creatures venturing into the sacred arena of tools. However, due to a very good friend of ours, Steve, (with whom you are familiar on this thread) bringing axles & a diff centre for the SIII with his lovely Land Rover in the other bay of the shed (after driving it up the yard, I told him he'd lost it & thanked him so much for my new acquisition ), Ziggy & Zelda gleefully gained access. This was of course apart from him sneaking in the house unseen to cause some degree of damage before I noticed. Yes Ziggy, not Steve silly, he was far too busy in the shed to be sneaking about anywhere. Needless to say, gave up & supervised the goats & let Tony do the mechanicing, much to his relief I might add.

What makes it somewhat worse is it took me some hours to finally work out a system of putting heavy pavers against the gate so Ziggy couldn't pry it open. He was just getting the knack of taking a run up & butting the gate to get it open, (I fear he's been watching the cricket & learned a trick or two from the bowlers). Am quite sure he would have soon succeeded, if we didn't call it a night. Outsmarted by a goat.

Oh joy ... another day in the shed tomorrow. I can't wait

Yes, well Ian ... am waiting for Ziggy & Zelda to start driving, such is their enthusiasm and apparent rise in intelligence.

We used to fit them to trucks years ago, when NSW's finest would knock us off for using anything but engine braking to decend the likes of Ousley and Moomby/
