unpopular due to heavy steering non auto models crash box?
I used to drive an Albion Clydsdale (401 powered) that was speced for Adelaide-Darwin service, it was heavy to steer in town, but with a 6 speed crash box, it could march, from memory about 120-130 kph, but it took a fair bit of road to get there.

I remember a trip on the M1 back in 1976 whilst on my KH250 being pulled along by a Black and White Motorways Daimler Roadliner fitted with a cummins v8 doing at least 100 mph!

I think they were Charles Hope bodied, they bodied Daimler and Albions for BCC, must have been post war to mid/late 50s. BCC operated Sunbeam (?) trolly busses on inner city services and trams on suburban runs, the diesel busses played second fiddle. Much of the tram fleet was destroyed in a major depot fire in the 60s, signalling an end to Brisbane trams.
Try googling Ferny Grove tram and bus museum.

A VT 190 or 555, known as triple fives here, unless you owned one, then they were called triple troubles.

No, I don't remember the Corgi version, and Sydney never used Routemasters, so a bit of poetic license there. My passion and preference was for Matchbox models.
