Was the Swift rebadged and sold by Holden as a Barina? The Swift was at least twice as big as the Mighty Boy.

I spent an entire Saturday trawling Aspley to Oxley, with my youngest daughter, a few years ago. She had set her heart on a Swift and would not consider a Barina. We must have looked at a dozen cars that she had found in the classifieds, and she fell in love with one that I ranked poorly. She was attracted by the custom paint and graphics, the very thing that set off alarms for me. I gave my opinion and justification, and told her she had to make her own decision. We went back to the same car twice more before she decided that was the one, and would do the deal when she formalized the pre-approved bank finance. There was only one car on her list that we had not looked at, due to its woop-woop location, Caboolture. She and her Mum drove up there before going home. It was the last model Swift, private sale, low kays, as new and keenly priced. After a bit of haggling a deal was struck and small deposit left. Loz was worried someone may come with cash and gazump her so she borrowed the money from Grandad and finalized the transaction the following morning. On the Wednesday morning, on her way to work, she was rear ended causing $3,500 damage, just short of what she had paid. At this stage she hadn't had time to set up the finance or insurance, but fortunately the guy who hit her was insured and admitted fault, the car was repaired promptly, the insurance co sayin its red book value was $4,500. Loz went back to Grandad to borrow the money to get the car back from the panel shop because she hadn't gotten the cheque from the ins co.. For a couple of weeks she owed Grandad nearly twice the value of the car.
A bit over a year later she traded the car on a brand new Honda, they gave her $500 trade! She should have taken Mum and/or Dad with her.
