Not heard about from a mates mate, cops in haybale stacks in back of utes etc.

Saw a red VE HSV clubsport on the side of the M1 Springwood area.The copper was sitting on the backseat with the rear door half open,speed gun aimed at the traffic!

They also seem to have a lot of Camrys at the moment.

Road Rules 2008 - so that's nation wide road rules defines a Police vehicle as:

''any vehicle driven by a person who is;

a) a police officer for the provision; and
b) driving the vehicle in the course of his or her duties as a Police officer".

So, if they see something dodgey and want to take action whilst off duty, then whatever vehicle they're driving falls under the definition of a 'police vehicle'.

In that case, I tender my strangest "police" vehicle as the 110 Defender 300Tdi driven by a Lowood constable sent out to our property for a search & rescue at Easter. He (intelligently) thought it would be better to bring his own vehicle instead of the standard issue Falcon.

NSW used to have a truck, nick-named the stitch-up truck. It used to travel the highway at about 95kph, call the interstate trucks round, record the speed then have them pulled up, by a marked car further up the road.

Last Winter i was pulled over by two police women mounted on horses in the main street of Traralgon and asked to blow into the breathalyzer. Apparently they were providing a presence at the local junior footy as there had been a lot of pilfering going on during the games, this did not stop them having to do their mandatory 20 breath tests per shift that all police were told to do at the time.
Gota tell you, blowing into the bag being held by Mrs plod leaning down from a rather large horse was picturesque!!!!!

And in snow season, you'll often see around Cooma unmarked cars with skis on the roof, pulling people over.
