    Small dent..... long repair

After having someone back into the bottom of my rear drivers side quarter panel. The insurance approved the repair and sent me to their specialist crash centre for repair. I was told it would take a week , so expecting my Disco back this Friday, I get a call today Thursday that my disco has been transported to another panel shop that specializes in Aluminum welding.
That panel shop tells me that I won't get it back for at another least 10 days.
I always thought the rear quarter panels were riveted and glued on and were an easy replacement??? Are they welded as well?

Pretty sure the rear 1/4 panel is bonded on somehow but definately not welded, i'm seem then on ebay so you have to be able to remove them in 1 piece. If they are welding it they will warp the crap out of it .

I've seen member Bundalene advertise them on ebay, I'll have to check the body section on Rave.

Not necessarily. A good tig welder should be able to weld it without significant warping. Will still need (some) filler though.

Strange they aren't replacing the whole panel though.

To be honest I don't know what they are doing, As I said it was only a small dent IMHO.
Below the rear rubber trim strip, maybe they are going to cut it under the strip, weld , bog and paint it?
If they were replacing the whole panel I hope it comes with a good window rubber as mine is splitting LOL.
I had them quote separately to repaint the roof and hood as it's flaking. I was told they will not do tape and paint, to do the roof they will take the windscreen out and paint it properly, BUT I would be up for new rubbers and any trims they may break in the process, so that extra $$$$$ made me shy off the idea for the moment
