    Dennis,
    2.
What was the give-away re the S2, the horn button on the outrigger on the steering column?
It also had the blinker switch on the dash.
Notice how handy the non-Lucas starting device was located! Very commonly used piece of CES that was.
    Regards
    Glen

As they were... A trip down memory lane

Since you ask, here is an old snap from a trip to Fraser Island in 1980. We are all waiting to load Gordon Elmer's barge to leave the island. That was not long after the island was "saved" from the mineral sands miners. A bit of nostalgia from almost 30 years ago.

Here is a shot of the Maheno as it was during the 1980 trip. Not much left now.
The little chap in the picture has presented us with two grand kids now 7 and 9. How time flies!

    Great shots Grumdriva,
I remember when both those ships were a fair bit more intact, especially the Venture. I remember going up (in the back of an 11 seater Ser 3) and being able to get into the Cherry Venture and climb all over her.

As they were... A trip down memory lane

Here is my Series llA wagon and my brother's Series lll hardtop at Canunda National Park near Southend in SA in 1981 if my memory serves me well. He was the Ranger there, and we drove for miles through the coastal flats and sand hills (on established tracks). No sand flags in those days! No other traffic to watch out for, either.

OK Shonky, here is another of the hardtop taken on the barge in 1980, just for you. Recovery gear was pretty flash in those days: a snatch strap, unrated shackles, a shovel and a hi-lift jack!
    Glad you enjoyed them.

    Thanks Terry!

Fantastic pics - exactly what I wanted to see.

Come on everyone, surely others out there have some memories they'd like to share to enthuse a young lad's imagination?

G'day All, great pix, Glen it was 2 items that jumped out at me, 1 was the horn on the outrigger, the other was the round rear view mirror, I did also notice the unusual position of the non standard starting device LOL, mine is located behind the seat (so is yours most likely) cheers Dennis
