Got no love in the D1 forum, so I thought I would ask here. Anybody running this tyre? Need to know how the size goes and rim you need
Anybody running this tire size on a D1? If so, on what rims and offset.. Any help would be greatly appreciated,,![]()

I run this tyre size in a BFG MT on D1 rims on a Defender
'95 110 300TDI, F&R ARB Lockers, Twine Shower, Aux Sill Tank, Snorkel, Cargo barrier, 9 seats, swingaway wheel carrier, MadMan EMS2
'85 110 Isuzu NA 4BE1 3.6l Diesel, 0.996 LT-95, Rear Maxi (SOLD)
'76 SIII 109" Nissan ED33 5-SP Nissan GBox (SOLD)
I'm planning on running these on the Defender. On 16x7 Rossignol Alloys
I think the minimum rim width is 6.5 so the Disco steelies would be good.
I was just wondering while on the subject, will 255s on alloys have enough offset to not scrub?
Thanks
I used to run them on my 3 door. I used 6.5" 130 rims, slightly more offset than standard 7" rims.
Have to do plenty of guard mods front and back for them to clear.
Also standard disco tdi's will struggle to turn them.

Down near the bottom is the 255x85. Doesnt give any info on the Defender or Disco, but does state loads of info about the tyre & rim size.
As a further side note. I run them on my 110 on a 16x7 TX rim with no rubbing. Leeds runs them on his 110 on 16x7 modular steels and they rub on the radius arms. Offset rims are the key... the more (or less depending on you viewpoint) the better. I am of course talking about standard lock stop positions. I know they can be turned out to stop the rubbing, but that also sacrifices steering lock.

Jon
I run them on 16X8's without an issue. Pat
You've got me worried now
My plans seem to have gone out the window
Maybe I'll have to run 33's on 15 inch Sunnies with an offset instead, not really what I was planning
If only wheels spacers were legal over here![]()
255 85R 16 is actually the correct size for a defender........
they come with 235s from factory.......gives them better off road ratios too.......
but the smaller size doesnt give the correct speedo reading....it reads more than you are actually doing.......
the 255s will bring it closer to being accurate......
there are only a few manufacturers which actually make this size tyre so you wont have a great choice
of brands........but the choices you do have are some of the better ones.......
they will fit on a standard rim no problems.......
