Thread: 255/85R16?

Got no love in the D1 forum, so I thought I would ask here. Anybody running this tyre? Need to know how the size goes and rim you need

I run this tyre size in a BFG MT on D1 rims on a Defender

I'm planning on running these on the Defender. On 16x7 Rossignol Alloys

I think the minimum rim width is 6.5 so the Disco steelies would be good.

I was just wondering while on the subject, will 255s on alloys have enough offset to not scrub?

I used to run them on my 3 door. I used 6.5" 130 rims, slightly more offset than standard 7" rims.
Have to do plenty of guard mods front and back for them to clear.

Also standard disco tdi's will struggle to turn them.

Thats what I would love to find out.... On a D1 with the factory steel, I just dont think that there would be enough offset to clear stuff....33" rolling diameter and all

Down near the bottom is the 255x85. Doesnt give any info on the Defender or Disco, but does state loads of info about the tyre & rim size.

As a further side note. I run them on my 110 on a 16x7 TX rim with no rubbing. Leeds runs them on his 110 on 16x7 modular steels and they rub on the radius arms. Offset rims are the key... the more (or less depending on you viewpoint) the better. I am of course talking about standard lock stop positions. I know they can be turned out to stop the rubbing, but that also sacrifices steering lock.

Maybe I'll have to run 33's on 15 inch Sunnies with an offset instead, not really what I was planning

If only wheels spacers were legal over here
