    Bris Caravan and Camping show

Yep, went along last Monday....with the Missus...we went by train rather than pay $6 for parking BECAUSE...last time I went to the showgrounds BY MYSELF WITH CAR...I came home with a new car fridge... so a 2 km walk + 3 stop train ride it was (free ride in Anna's Qld )... too bloody far to carry home a new generator... !

    Observations:
    1. All I bought was a 3 pack of "rescue tape" and collected a bag full of brochures.
    2. Great display of 300+ different ways to put a tent on a trailer AND charge lotza dollars
    3. Gotta luv the $635K+ mobile home built on a bus chassis with the electrohydraulic slide out part in the middle (sold sign on the window) Don't try parking it @ Woollies! ...anyone for a 2nd mortgage!?
    4. Most "bargains" were equal to or more expensive than day to day prices
    5. Must admit to being somewhat surprised (understatement) at the disproportionately high prices being asked especially for camper trailers and smaller caravans once they had "off road" tags applied for seemingly a few more cm of welding seam...
    6. there was a wide range of manufacturers and resellers so the chance to compare was pretty good.
    7. Am still convinced that most campers have "me too" fatal flaws in their designs...though I was impressed with some of the thoughtful engineering which has gone into improved suspension systems
    8. I reckon there's a real market opening for a cheap and cheerful teardrop camper.. missed any that may have been on display...

well that 's it for another year or two... $30 k for a caravan buys a decent tent/swag + a lot of country pub /motel nights!!!

I went on Sunday and parked near the Hospital and walked up to save myself $6, I can be cheap when I want to be.
    My observations were:

    • Gee there's a lot of caravans out there, expensive too.
    • I was amazed at just how big the camping/caravan scene is.
    • I quite liked the Ozpigs.
    • Attention everyone We do not need any more camper trailer manufacturers.
    • Hmm this would be a really good place to pick up swine flue.
    • $4.50 for a 600ml Coke seems expensive. Oh look a vending machine charging normal prices. Again me being cheap.
    • Hmm nice 110. Spotted Extreme
