    "Hell hath no fury........."

"Hell Hath no Fury like a woman whose Land Rover is threatened"

Two years ago as the factory warranty was about to expire on SWMBO's D2. I suggested that it might be time to update. You know what it's like, the invisible end of warranty switch clicks on and it starts to cost a lot of money . At the time, I observed that Mazda BT 50's had just been released and there were pretty good deals to be had .

Well !!, to say that this wasn't well received would be an understatement . I don't think I've ever seen Kaye arc up so much. Though there was the time I used the pantry timber to make new shelves for the shed........., but no this took the prize. I was left with no uncertainty as to whether washing, cooking etc. , especially etc. would be (not) forthcoming if I continued down this path. Not one of my better ideas. Still cold shoulder next morning as I left for work.

Came home that night, all lovey dovey, smiles and hapiness . AhHa thinks I she's seen reason. Sat down to dinner and she puts paper work in front of me, BT-50 info ? No, extended warranty on the D2. Kaye had driven an hour up the highway, strong armed the dealer and come home with the extended warranty. $1500 and covered to 200,000 Km. Some comment about the "Right Bower".

I was away several months later and some 'sensor thingy' failed which was replaced at a saving of over $500. Didn't think it clever to enquire too closely as my BT-50 foray was still a sore point.

Well we've just had the 160,000 Km dealer service and are shortly heading to Alice, Mt. Dare, Simpson Desert, Birdsville, Maree, Lake Eyre and back to Alice so we requested a "super service". Niggling issues with S & M lights meant replacement of the relevant switch/device on the gear box as well as a new fuel pressure regulator, and guess what ? both were covered by the extended warranty for both parts and labour. A saving of over $1000.

Kaye sweetly (flutter of eyelids)......................."this extended warranty was a good idea, wasn't it ? And 40,000 Km's still to go................"

"Yes Dear", is always a good response.

    'Game, Set and Match'. SWMBO.

I haven't had a chance to negotiate yet......but the prophet tells me the amount of time my car has been in for warranty work they wouldn't want to extend my warranty
